The story of a family
And from a land
It all started in the 1920s, with the journey of an Italian exile who, during his journey to Paris, fell in love with a land and stopped there. He cultivates the schist soil to plant vines there, convinced that under his feet there is an incredible terroir conducive to the cultivation of grapes. Today, the reputation of the wines of the Domaine des Tournels shows that he was not wrong, and his descendants in turn prove that this vineyard is a real wealth.
Under the Provençal sun of the village of Ramatuelle, our 110-hectare estate enjoys a fabulous location between sky and sea, at the foot of the Camarat lighthouse. Our vines receive maximum sunshine thanks to their southern exposure. The dry and violent winds of the Mistral coming from the Mediterranean protect the vineyard from the attacks of diseases linked to humidity. All these geological and climatic characteristics provide ideal conditions for the production of quality wines typical of the Var region.
Since their arrival, the Bologna family has not succeeded in discovering the secret of the origin of the name “Tournels”. Some think it comes from an old place where the grain was separated from the ear when making wheat, others consider that it could be the name of one of the former owners of the estate. The mystery remains intact.
Wines
that reflect the sun
Our wines benefit from an exceptional terroir benefiting from maximum sunshine all year round and a multitude of grape varieties with intense and fruity aromas.
Thanks to our ancestral know-how, our rosés are renowned and rewarded wines! The "Special" and "Rayne" cuvées from our Côtes de Provence won gold medals at the Paris Agricultural Show in 2013 and 2014. Thanks to their unique fruity aromas, obtained from grape varieties of Grenache, Cinsault and Tibouren, our different rosés are defined as remarkable and authentic wines.
