All three versions depict Van Gogh’s bedroom at 2, Place Lamartine in Arles, France, known as the Yellow House, and was simply entitled, _The Bedroom_. Simple “like a Seurat” as Van Gogh would describe it, _Bedroom in Arles_ features familiar objects in bright colors (meant to express absolute repose) and in a peculiar perspective, which makes this painting so unique and easily recognizable. Van Gogh would often reject conventional perspective in the latter part of his career. One of the world’s greatest artists, Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh completed more than 2,100 works, consisting of 860 oil paintings and more than 1,300 watercolors, drawings and sketches during his decade-long career. While he only ever sold one painting in his lifetime, Van Gogh’s works are now considered priceless.
