This trivet is inspired by the jali-screened buildings of Murad Khani, a district of historic buildings in Kabul. The jali, or latticed screen, appears in both Hindu and Islamic architecture. These perforated slabs of wood have been masterfully rendered by generations of skilled workers to serve as window coverings, room dividers, and railings for balconies. Our trivet is a modern take on the traditional jali screen. Hand-carved from walnut, a tree native to Kunar province. - Craft: Wood Carving - Province: Kunar - Materials: Walnut - Dimensions: 18cm x 18 cm
